Whether it's a lockout today or getting keys cut for a car you've just bought, our mobile locksmiths work on nearly every make and model — from everyday runabouts through to prestige European & Asian vehicles.
We've been doing this since 1996, working roadside, at home, and at workplaces right across Melbourne.
You'll speak to a working locksmith when you call, not a call centre and not a booking agent. We'll ask what you need and give you a verbal estimate. To lock in a job, we just need the full details — make, model, year, numberplate and location — no photo of the vehicle needed. We'll come back with a written quote you can read before you agree to anything.
Locked out right now, lost your keys, or a key's broken off in the ignition? You don't need to go anywhere else — Car Lockout, Lost Car Keys and Broken Key Extraction are covered right below, along with everything else we handle for cars, motorbikes, trucks and forklifts.
None of these are always emergencies — some are, some aren't. Either way, it's exactly what we do.
Locked out with the keys inside? We open nearly every make and model with no damage to the vehicle, and can usually get you back in within minutes.
Learn moreLost every key to the car? We cut and program replacement keys on-site — from a non-transponder key through to push-button smart keys — no tow truck or dealership trip needed.
Learn moreA key that's snapped off in the door or ignition doesn't mean the lock is finished. We extract the broken piece and, where the lock itself is worn, can address that in the same visit.
Learn moreAn ignition that's stiff, won't turn, or has failed completely can usually be repaired or replaced roadside, without towing the car to a mechanic.
Learn moreA car door lock damaged by force, a break-in attempt, or general wear can often be repaired rather than replaced outright.
Learn moreKeys cut, programmed and repaired for motorbikes, trucks and forklifts, alongside cars — the same mobile team, the same guarantees.
Learn moreThe Boss has owned and run 24H Melbourne Locksmith since 1996. When you call about your car, you speak to the person doing the work — not a booking agent working from a script.
The call routes — often across state or national borders — to a centralised call centre. The person who answers says “locksmith” or “emergency locksmith,” not a business name. If you ask, they’ll give a generic or evasive answer. They confirm the advertised low price and get your address as quickly as possible.
Blank keys, remotes and common ignition parts are on the van, so most jobs don't need a second visit once parts are confirmed.
Our technicians keep up with immobiliser systems, transponder types and key programming across nearly every make and model, including prestige European and Asian vehicles.
Greater Melbourne, every day of the week — not one van trying to cover everything from a shed in the outer east.
Getting into a locked car or extracting a broken key is done without damaging the vehicle — that's a guarantee, not a hope.
Every one holds a current National Police Check. You're letting someone work on your car — you should know who.
We work right across Greater Melbourne, with standard rates applying inside a core zone stretching out to the M80 Ring Road, EastLink and Melbourne Airport, plus the middle-ring suburbs around them. If you've broken down or you're stuck further out, that's not a problem — we still come, we just let you know about any extra travel cost as part of your quote, before anything's booked in.

Speak to a locksmith, get a real quote, and get it sorted — wherever your car is.
If the price sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Locksmiths advertising jobs for $19, $29 or $45 are running a bait-and-switch — that's never the price you actually pay. We give a real quote before we start, every time.
Read the full Scam WarningCar lockouts, lost or stolen keys, broken keys, ignition problems, and damaged locks — on nearly every make and model, including prestige European and Asian vehicles, plus motorbikes, trucks and forklifts. See the services above for the specific job you need, or call and we'll point you the right way.
Yes. Most cars built from the mid-1990s onward use an immobiliser that only allows the engine to start with a correctly programmed key or chip. We carry the equipment to read, cut and program these systems on-site for the vast majority of makes and models.
A small number of very late-model or high-security vehicles need dealer-only programming equipment we don't carry. If that's the case for your car, we'll tell you upfront rather than attend and charge you for a job we can't finish — that's what No Fix No Fee means in practice.
No — getting into a locked car, extracting a broken key, or working on a lock or ignition is done without damaging the vehicle, and that's guaranteed. If a technique risks damage, we'll tell you and discuss the alternative before proceeding.
For pricing, process detail, and more FAQs specific to your job, see the relevant page above — Car Lockout, Lost Car Keys, Broken Key Extraction, Ignition Lock Repairs, or Car Lock Repairs.
We give you a clear quote before we start any work, and that's the price you pay. Automotive jobs vary by vehicle, key type and situation, so we don't advertise one fixed menu price — but you'll always know the cost before we start, and we'll requote before proceeding if anything changes.
Yes — we operate 24/7 and our technicians are fairly compensated for unsociable hours. We'll confirm which rate applies when you call, before we dispatch anyone.
It depends on the key type, since the price covers the whole job — us attending, sourcing the correct key, cutting it and programming it to your specific vehicle, not just the key itself. As a guide: non-transponder jobs start from $440 inc. GST, standard transponder/chip (no remote) from $495 inc. GST, remote flip keys from $605 inc. GST, and push-button/proximity smart keys from $715 inc. GST. See our Lost Car Keys page for full detail.
It depends on the vehicle. As a guide: Commodore from $440 inc. GST, Toyota from $495–$715 inc. GST, Ford Ranger/Falcon from $550 inc. GST, Honda from $550 inc. GST, and VW/Audi from $935 inc. GST. See our Ignition Lock Repairs page for full detail by make and model.
It means exactly what it says. If we don't complete the job, you don't pay anything. The service call is not a travel fee or a 'showing up' fee — it is the minimum charge for a successfully completed job. If we arrive and can't fix the problem, for any reason, there is no charge. This includes situations where we start work and discover mid-job that we can't complete it satisfactorily.
You can cancel at no charge within 15 minutes of receiving your booking confirmation. After that window, cancellation before the technician arrives is $165 inc. GST, and cancellation after the technician has arrived is the full quoted service call. This is our standard policy for lockouts, extractions and lock repairs. Lost-key jobs where a key is being cut and programmed specifically for your vehicle work a little differently — see our Lost Car Keys page for the All Keys Lost cancellation terms.
All workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months, and manufacturer warranty is a minimum of 12 months under Australian Consumer Law — most locks and hardware we supply carry longer warranties again, which we'll confirm for your specific job. Key-cutting and programming jobs have their own guarantee wording, since a key's guarantee can't promise the vehicle's own electrics will always start it — see our Lost Car Keys page for that detail.
Call us on 0435 247 999. We discuss the problem and give you a verbal estimate. You send us your details by text or message — name, location, and the vehicle's make, model, year and numberplate. A photo isn't needed for most key or ignition jobs — we'll ask for one where it helps, such as a damaged lock. We reply with a written quote and availability. You confirm you'd like to proceed, and we send back a booking confirmation with your technician's name, expected arrival window, and the quoted price. Payment is on completion — cash, card, or a ServiceM8/Stripe online invoice link.
We cover Greater Melbourne. Standard rates apply within a core area bounded by the M80 Ring Road, EastLink, Melbourne Airport, and surrounding middle-ring suburbs. Beyond these areas, additional travel charges apply, always confirmed before we dispatch.
